The Story behind Jargonomy

The Story behind Jargonomy

The tall, glass-fronted skyscraper buildings, shiny cars, high-end fashion stores..Anything sound familiar? It’s a typical American dream.

Like most people, I too, was a wide-eyed girl with hopes to study at a kickass American University, land  an awesome job with a big American Company and earn a pretty decent six figure salary (in Dollars..yayy!)

The first Step to all of it begins with getting accepted with a University of your choice. And, the first prerequisite for being eligible is of course the most dreaded TOEFL exams, literally meaning “The Test Of English as a Foreign Language” exam. The first stepping stone to achieve the highly coveted American dream.

Like most aspiring students, I scoured several so-called agencies to help me with my TOEFL. The response I received was more or less the same!

I was told that most Universities just need a passing score of 100. And they guaranteed that “100” just by signing me up for a crash course a week ago before my exams. That’s all that you need to be eligible. Why work hard!

This was where things changed for me. Surely, the purpose of taking the test is not just getting to the minimum score, is it? It surely has to be more!

And after doing a lot of research, here’s what I realized! TOEFL is not just an eligibility exam. It’s a study program that helps you achieve a foothold in America. It helps you thrive out here. It prepares you for a life in the US!

People who just meet the minimum requirement fail to understand that your limited efforts will only help you secure admission into a university. What next? You won’t understand the language or the accent of the people there. You won't know how to make friends with students from all over the world. You wouldn’t know how to communicate there. Your journey will get stalled there. Even if you make it somehow, but you will fail to achieve the main goal - to enjoy and evolve there.

With that in mind, I started studying for my TOEFL exams thoroughly. I didn’t  set up any timelines like a week or a month, I just started preparing myself for it. I started to enjoy the reading sections which opened me up to many different subjects.

I became proficient in the speaking section, which surely helped my communication skills. I started identifying with the accent out here because of the listening section, which made the transition to a new country really easy and fun for me. And I loved applying all of my skills into the writing section which made me really confident about my language skills. It gave me the confidence that I will thrive in a new country even if I come from a land speaking a different language.
I scored a total of 117/120 which is way more than expected and way more than required by the university of my choice.
Here’s the breakdown of my score: Reading-27/30, listening -30/30, Speaking 30/30, writing 30/30.

My journey motivated me to share my knowledge with the world. That’s when I started my own company. Jargonomy. The company that makes me well-versed with TOEFL jargons (special words or expressions that are used by a particular profession or group and are difficult for others to understand).

At Jargonomy, we don’t set you up to score the minimum required score. Instead, we prepare you for the language and culture out there through the TOEFL curriculum. We will make sure that your journey won’t end by just securing admissions into a university. We are a team of TEFL/ ESOL qualified experts. Our aim is to train you to achieve more than the required score. Our goal extends to the desire of ensuring that you completely live out the American education experience.
